A wood burning fire pit is the norm but you can also have a natural gas or propane burning fire pit. Wood burning fire pits are a bit less complicated to build. Some people will feel cheated without wood being burned, some will hate the smoke. With a natural gas and propane fire pits you will just need to flip a switch and you will have a fire! It’s a bit more expensive and complicated to have a natural gas burning fire pit but you can have them on patios and decks. You can also have propane burning fire pits that use small tanks that you’ll need to refill.
